Have you tried using color pencils on gold vellum? Join me as I share tips for coloring this gorgeous Spring Bouquet Digi Stamp by Alex Syberia Design.
YouTube Tutorial
The video below has all the details to get you started using color pencils on gold vellum. I’ll list all the specific Polychromos colors I’ve used below.
Printing Digi Stamps
I printed four Spring Bouquet Digi Stamps by Alex Syberia Design on Curious Translucent Irridescent 27 lb Gold Vellum. Ease of printing is the advantage of using text weight vellum vs. the 40 lb vellum typically used by card makers.
Thicker vellum may jam your home printer’s automatic feed mechanism. Read more about printing on thick cardstock and vellum successfully in my DIY Pattern Paper post.
Polychromos Colors
The video demonstrates the color pencil technique on gold vellum, so I won’t share that here. However, I will list the specific colors used for your reference. I used a Sakura White Gelly Roll pen for the stamens.
Yellow Orange Flowers
Venetian Red, Pompeian Red, Dark Naples Ochre, Cream, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, and Walnut Brown.
Purple Flower
Magenta, Dark Red, Rose Carmine, and White
Berries
Pompeian Red and Dark Red.
Leaves
Green Yellowish, Light Green, and Warm Grey V.
Additional Cardstock
The card panels are Stardream Metallic Poison Ivory. Isn’t that a great name? This cardstock dry embosses beautifully with stencils and embossing folders. Unfortunately, you can’t see the embossing in the close-up photos.
Next, I used Stardream Metallic Gold Cardstock for the top layer of the die-cut letters. Additionally, I backed Hello with Stardream Metallic Onyx and Love with Stardream Metallic Fairway.
All gold cardstock is on sale this month over at cutcardstock.com so take advantage and replenish your stash. Definitely check out the $1.99 section, because that’s where I snag Stardream Metallic and Curious Metallic papers in 5×7 flat card size. These are perfect for die cuts.
I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below! Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time Breathe · Ink · Inspire.
