    Travel Poster Inspired Cards

Travel posters make me smile. They immediately take me away to the tropics with warm surf and tasty drinks.I love vintage 2-dimensional designs as well as modern versions with large monstera leaves and vibrant colors.

Those mood-altering posters inspired these cards, and I hope they make you smile!

    Cardstock

There are lots of die cuts for these cards and to mimic the travel poster style I chose a selection of bright cardstock and glitter paper.

    Prep the Pieces

Grab your favorite beach beverage, and let’s do some die-cutting. What’s your favorite vacation drink? Let me know in the comments. I’m partial to a Mai Tai, the color is gorgeous, and it’s tasty too!

    Hello, Wish You Were Here

MirriSparkle Glitter paper has finely milled glitter that cuts like a dream and does not shed. I wanted the monstera leaves to be a bit thicker without having to add dimensional adhesive. So I backed each leaf with a Neenah Classic Crest die-cut.

I arranged them in a random pattern retaining plenty of white space for contrast. Next, I adhered the monstera and trimmed the overhanging leaves.

For the sentiment, I die cut Lemon Drop and Rocket Red cardstock with Altenew Simply Hello Die and stacked them to create a drop shadow. The sub-sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words.

For an extra pop of color, I trimmed down the panel and added a strip of Lemon Drop cardstock to the left side.

    Sit Back & Relax

Altenew Fine Frames Cover Die creates perfectly nested frames in no time. Make adhering the frames a snap by adding double-sided adhesive to your black cardstock before die-cutting.

I didn’t have a light pink cardstock, so I colored some up with a pink alcohol marker. Follow the layering guide on the die package to assemble the hibiscus. I adhered the elements popping up some on dimensional adhesive.

These easy-going sentiments are from Altenew Build-A-Flower: Larkspur. First, I stamped Relax in Altenew Coral Bliss Crisp Dye Ink. Then I shifted the cardstock about 1 mm and stamped again in Maple Yellow create a drop shadow.

Ebony Nuvo Crystal Drops finish off both of these vacation getaway cards. I hope you enjoyed these projects and that you have a chance to relax and unwind this summer!
